Application Analysis

Example Calculations

Example 1: 8ft × 4ft Table

Dimensions: 8 ft × 4 ft × 1 inch thick

Converted: 96 in × 48 in × 1 in

Volume: 96 × 48 × 1 = 4,608 cubic inches

Result: 19.95 gallons or 2,552 fl oz

Example 2: Round Table

Dimensions: 32 inch diameter × 2 inch thick

Radius: 16 inches

Volume: π × 16² × 2 = 1,608.5 cubic inches

Result: 6.96 gallons or 891.3 fl oz

Example 3: Small Craft Project

Dimensions: 24 in × 24 in × 1 inch thick

Volume: 24 × 24 × 1 = 576 cubic inches

Result: 2.49 gallons or 319.7 fl oz

• Floor coatings

• Protective layers

• Light-duty surfaces

Medium Coat (1/8" - 1/4")

• Table tops

• Countertops

• Art projects

Thick Coat (1/4" - 1/2")

• River tables

• Deep embedding

• Special projects

Application Tips

Clean surface thoroughly before application

Mix in 2:1 ratio (resin:hardener) by volume

Work in 70-80°F temperature range

Buy 10-15% extra for waste and touch-ups

Understanding Epoxy Calculations

What is Epoxy Resin?

Epoxy resin is a liquid adhesive that becomes solid when mixed with a hardener in a 2:1 ratio. It provides strength, durability, and waterproofing for various materials including wood, metal, plastic, glass, and ceramic.

Why Accurate Calculations Matter

  • Ensures proper coverage and thickness
  • Prevents waste of expensive materials
  • Maintains proper mixing ratios for curing
  • Helps plan project timeline and costs

Calculation Formulas

Rectangular:

Volume = Length × Width × Thickness

Circular:

Volume = π × (Diameter/2)² × Thickness

Mixing Ratio:

Resin: Hardener = 2:1

  • π: Mathematical constant (≈3.14159)
  • Radius: Half of the diameter
  • Thickness: Desired coating depth
  • 2:1 Ratio: Standard epoxy mixing ratio

Note: Epoxy typically requires several days to fully cure. Clean the surface thoroughly as epoxy doesn't bond well with greasy surfaces.
