Understanding Sexual Orientation
Sexual Orientation Spectrum
Sexual orientation describes patterns of emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attraction. It exists on a spectrum and includes many identities beyond just straight and gay.
It's Okay to Question
Questioning your sexuality is a normal part of self-discovery:
- •Many people explore their orientation throughout life
- •Sexuality can be fluid for some people
- •There's no timeline for understanding yourself
- •Your identity is valid regardless of when you realize it
Straight vs. Heteronormative
Being straight is a valid sexual orientation. However, it's important to distinguish between being heterosexual and assuming heteronormativity—the belief that heterosexuality is the only "normal" or default orientation.
Supporting All Orientations
Whether you're straight or part of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting diversity in sexual orientation creates a more inclusive society. Everyone deserves to love and be loved authentically.
Remember: Your orientation is just one part of who you are. It doesn't define your worth, and you deserve respect regardless of how you identify.
