What is Golden State Stimulus II?
The Golden State Stimulus II (GSS II) was California's second round of state-funded stimulus payments, designed to provide financial relief to eligible Californians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Payments began in August 2021 and were automatically issued to qualifying taxpayers.
Eligibility Criteria
- •California resident for more than half of 2020
- •Filed 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021
- •California AGI between $1 and $75,000
- •Wages between $0 and $75,000
- •Cannot be claimed as a dependent
Payment Amounts
GSS II payment amounts varied based on several factors including tax identification type, previous GSS I qualification status, and whether dependents were claimed on the 2020 tax return.
Maximum Payments:
- $1,100: SSN holders who didn't qualify for GSS I and claimed dependents
- $1,000: ITIN holders who qualified for GSS I and claimed dependents
- $600: SSN holders who didn't qualify for GSS I and claimed no dependents
- $500: SSN holders who qualified for GSS I and claimed dependents
