Understanding the Navy Physical Readiness Test

What is the Navy PRT?

The Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) is a fitness assessment conducted by the US Navy to evaluate the physical readiness of sailors. The test consists of three components designed to measure different aspects of physical fitness.

2021 Updates

  • Forearm planks replaced curl-ups (sit-ups)
  • Added 450-meter run and 2-kilometer row options
  • Extended age categories up to 65+
  • Updated scoring standards for all events

Training Tips

Forearm Plank

Build core strength with daily plank holds. Start with 30 seconds and gradually increase.

Push-ups

Practice proper form with chest touching ground. Do multiple sets throughout the day.

Cardio

Build endurance with regular cardiovascular training. Mix intervals and steady-state work.
