Understanding Rust Decay Mechanics
How Decay Works
Decay in Rust is a server cleanup mechanism that gradually deteriorates unprotected structures. The decay rate depends on the material type and current health percentage of the structure.
Decay Formula
Decay Time = Base Decay Time × (Current Health ÷ 100)
Important: This calculator assumes the default decay tick rate of 300. Server settings may modify these values.
Prevention Strategies
Tool Cupboard Protection
- • Place within building privilege range
- • Stock with same materials as structures
- • Automatically prevents decay when stocked
- • Consumes materials over time
Maintenance Tips
• Check Tool Cupboard regularly
• Repair damaged structures immediately
• Use higher-tier materials for longevity
• Plan for offline protection
Material Progression & Strategy
Strategy Tip: Upgrade to higher-tier materials as you progress. Armoured structures last 12 times longer than Twig, providing much better offline protection.
