Scoring Formula: Running: P = A × (B - T)^C | Jumping/Throwing: P = A × (M - B)^C
Note: Points are rounded down to nearest whole number
Performance Analysis
Example Calculation
Women's Long Jump Example
Performance: 648 cm (6.48m)
Formula values: A = 0.188807, B = 210, C = 1.41
Calculation
P = A × (M - B)^C
P = 0.188807 × (648 - 210)^1.41
P = 0.188807 × 438^1.41
P = 1,001 points

Understanding Heptathlon Scoring
What is a Heptathlon?
A heptathlon is a track and field combined event consisting of seven disciplines. Athletes compete in all events over two days, with points awarded for each performance using the IAAF scoring tables. The athlete with the highest total score wins.
Scoring Formulas
- •Running: P = A × (B - T)^C (lower time = higher points)
- •Jumping: P = A × (M - B)^C (higher distance/height = higher points)
- •Throwing: P = A × (D - B)^C (greater distance = higher points)

Manual Timing
For sprint and hurdle events up to 400m, manual timing adds 0.24 seconds to account for human reaction time differences compared to electronic timing.
