Passer Rating Results
Formula used: NFL: ((a + b + c + d) / 6) × 100
a = ((comp/att) - 0.3) × 5 | b = ((yards/att) - 3) × 0.25 | c = (TD/att) × 20 | d = 2.375 - (INT/att) × 25
Each component capped between 0 and 2.375
Performance Analysis
Example: Aaron Rodgers 2004
College Stats
Pass Attempts: 316
Completions: 209
Passing Yards: 2,566
Touchdowns: 24
Interceptions: 8
NCAA Result
Rating = ((8.4 × 2566) + (330 × 24) + (100 × 209) - (200 × 8)) / 316
Rating = (21554.4 + 7920 + 20900 - 1600) / 316
NCAA Rating = 154.4

Understanding Passer Rating
What is Passer Rating?
Passer rating (also called quarterback rating) is a comprehensive statistic that measures a quarterback's overall performance. It combines completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown percentage, and interception percentage into a single number.
Why Use Passer Rating?
- •Provides holistic view of QB performance
- •Standardized metric across leagues
- •Correlates strongly with team success
- •Easy comparison between quarterbacks
NFL vs NCAA Formulas
NFL/CFL Formula:
((a + b + c + d) / 6) × 100
- a = ((completions/attempts) - 0.3) × 5
- b = ((yards/attempts) - 3) × 0.25
- c = (touchdowns/attempts) × 20
- d = 2.375 - (interceptions/attempts) × 25
NCAA Formula:
((8.4 × yards) + (330 × TD) + (100 × completions) - (200 × INT)) / attempts
