Understanding the Second Stimulus Check
Eligibility Requirements

- •Must have filed 2019 tax return or qualify for special categories
- •Must be U.S. resident with valid Social Security Number
- •Income must be within qualifying thresholds
- •Cannot be claimed as dependent by another taxpayer
Payment Calculation
The payment amount is calculated based on your filing status, number of qualifying children, and adjusted gross income from your 2019 tax return.
Phase-out Formula
Payments reduce by $50 for every $1,000 of income above the threshold (5% reduction rate)
Note: This calculator reflects the second stimulus check rules. Subsequent stimulus payments had different amounts and requirements.
Special Circumstances
Non-filers
Those receiving Social Security, SSI, Railroad Retirement, or Veterans benefits may qualify even without filing taxes.
Mixed-Status Couples
If only one spouse has a valid SSN, the couple is still eligible for a $600 payment (not the full $1,200).
Dependent Rules
Only child dependents under 17 qualify for the additional $600 payment. Adult dependents do not qualify.
